Jane Goodall’s Memorial at the National Cathedral November 12 2025
I was so honored to be invited to sing at Jane Goodall’s memorial at the National Cathedral in Washington DC last week. Watch the entire service via Jane’s website.
I start singing at at about 34:20.
There is so much beautiful music and so many lovely talks. So much love and appreciation.
I’m not much of a church person, but I must say I really loved the service. I was there to mourn and be with friends and family who loved Jane. Being in that state kind of helped me to not be nervous about performing.
I found that the singing, the organ, the stringed instruments, the prayers, the many periods of silence, the awesomeness of the cathedral, the stained glass windows, all helped me to have plenty of moments to reflect, think about Jane, and feel so blessed to be in a room with so many people who loved her.
Speakers included Jane’s grandson Merlin, actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio, and
Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde.
