By Dana Lyons

There’s a coldness in the concrete, there’s a stillness in the air
The close-cut grass surrounds me, I see barbed wire everywhere
There’s a misty moon a-shining, makes me think of long ago
I hear music in my memory, it’s the music of my home

And I feel it in my heart, I feel it in my soul tonight
I can feel it in my heart, feel it in my soul tonight

They may try to break your spirit, they may try to crush your soul
They may try to make you hate yourself, they may try to make it show
So I kneel beside my metal bed and pray to God above
Let me live to hear the music, let me live to feel her love

I can feel it in the blood rushing through my veins
I can feel it in the wind calling out her name

Now I see the sun is shining and I think about my time
One more night behind me, one more day alive
I can smell the morning dampness, I can hear the redtail’s call
Just beyond the fences, just beyond the wall
