Arlington, WA
Stillaguamish Festival of the River Rivers Meadow County Park, 20416 Jordan Road Arlington, WA http://www.stillaguamish.nsn.us/festival.htm Price: Free (parking $5/car)
August 15, Sunday 11am
I love this festival. Mixing a Pow Wow, logging show, environmental education booths and music, this event is classic Western Washington culture. One year I was in the middle of performing "The Tree" with the drums of the Pow Wow going on in the background, when a chain saw cranks up about 50 feet from the stage starting the logging show. It's the only time I've laughed while performing "The Tree."
A river to swim in, a Pow Wow to dance at, music to rock out to, study up on how to protect the forest while watching the logging show. Americana at its finest.
